2. FEATURES OF IMAGES
- Two dimensions: by taking a photograph, we are transforming a 3D object (the real object) into a two-dimension one (the photograph).
- Subjectivity: With a photograph, we are giving a partial vision of an object, our own vision, taken in a particular moment, from a particular point of view, with a particular light, displayed in a particular way (our computer screen, paper, a wall, etc.) and in a particular format (squared, rectangular, rounded, …) that we will choose at the end of the process.
- Message: when we are taking a photograph, we are transmitting information which is called the message.
In this unit, we will learn “to read” photographs and also to transmit our own messages through photographs.

Some of you will see only a building in foreground and more buildings behind it. Perhaps some of you will connect the fact that the buildings are skyscrapers with the idea of a big city, and some of you might even go beyond that idea and might be able to see the American flag so you will consider some of the most important cities in USA, such as Manhattan or Chicago.
